FAQ

How do I back up my configuration?

There are several ways to backup your configuration if you are concerned that you may need to roll-back an upgrade installation, or need to restore settings. These are:

Use the WinGate Configuration Utility. This will export or import a stored configuration from an XML file. This can be used to back up your configuration, and also migrate a configuration from another WinGate installation, taking into account different installation folders, and whether the source and / or target platform is running 64 bit or 32 bit Windows.

Export the WinGate registry key All WinGate settings are stored in the windows registry under the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareQbik SoftwareWinGate

64 bit OSes Due to windows 64 registry redirection, when using the 64 bit version of regedit.exe, the WinGate registry is under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareWOW6432NodeQbik SoftwareWinGate. When using the 32 bit version of regedit.exe (in c:windowssyswow64) it is in the usual location. We recommend using only the 32 bit version of regedit to export and import registry files.
