Qbik New Zealand Limited has announced the public release of WinGate 7.2.0
"Since the earliest days of WinGate 1.0 back in October 1995, WinGate had a free license. This was discontinued with WinGate 5 back in 2002 or so." says Adrien de Croy, inventor of WinGate and founder of Qbik back in 1995.
"Things have come a long way since then, and we realise that nowadays you can get some significant proxy software for free. Therefore we decided to re-introduce a free license..
The free license is equivalent to a WinGate Standard 3 concurrent user license, which currently retails for $74.95. In addition to that, Qbik have thrown in the equivalent of a WinGate VPN Single user license as well, so free users can also join and host VPNs. To let a local network use the VPN still requires a VPN or WinGate enterprise license however.
"We're very excited about the potential for a free version of WinGate to stimulate market awareness of WinGate 7." says de Croy.
